I offer native British English proofreading of texts as well as Polish to English translations. Having lived in Poland for many years, I have a deep understanding of the language; however, English to Polish translations are best handled by a native Polish speaker to ensure total linguistic naturalness. My focus is on delivering high-quality English output for my clients.
Proofreading is checking and improving a text that has been written or translated in English by a non-native speaker. My approach goes beyond correcting grammar, spelling and punctuation — it makes your text sound natural by using plain English to make complicated ideas as clear as possible. I also check names, dates and facts. Where the text has been translated from Polish, I ask to see the original as well, as this helps me clear up any doubts quickly.
A literal translation is rarely the best one. My goal is to convey the meanings and ideas of the original text as closely as possible, while ensuring the wording and sentence structure feel natural to an English reader. Having worked with law firms for many years, I understand the importance of accuracy while producing a translation that is genuinely clear and understandable.
I am not a sworn translator and I believe that into-Polish translations are best handled by a native Polish speaker. However, I work with many very talented Polish translators and can help arrange into-Polish translations and sworn translations for you. Contact me to make arrangements.

I prefer editable documents such as DOC, DOCX and ODT, which allow me to use "Track changes" so you can review every edit. I can also work with PDFs and PowerPoint presentations, though comments rather than tracked changes are used for those. You can email files to me at faulkner@flcpoland.com.

I have decades of experience working with international law firms and legal professionals in Poland, as well as with the law faculties of several Polish universities. I am not a lawyer, but I have probably read and checked every kind of legal document that lawyers produce. I ensure that legal documents maintain both accuracy and cultural relevance for Polish-English contexts.
I work on the basis of a standard translation page of 1,600 characters with spaces — proofreading is PLN 50/page, AI post-editing PLN 40/page, and Polish to English translation PLN 100/page. I generally round the total down to the nearest quarter page. I operate as a registered Polish sole-proprietorship (działalność) and issue VAT invoices. Prices are net, subject to 23% VAT (or the reverse charge mechanism in the EU). I generally issue invoices once you are satisfied with the finished work.
